His low yields and meticulous selection remains some of the most severe in Italy, and is in large part responsible for the rich, structured, intense Brunellos of Valdicava. What’s often misunderstood is that the elegant textures and dark colors of Vincenzo’s wines are often thought to be the result of an international style or small oak, but that is not the case…The vinification at Valdicava has always remained traditional, aged in cask (not French barrique), allowing the identity of the estate’s terroir and Vincenzo’s vision of ideal Sangiovese fruit to shine through.” 4/20
