Description
Hahn Chardonnay California – 750Ml
Drink now through to 2026. Served chilled. Founded forty years ago by Nicky and Gaby Hahn, Hahn Family Wines is the realisation of a dream to make top quality Californian wines on the Hahn’s estate in Monterey County. After purchasing the property the Hahns released the excellent winemaking potential of the land which had been used by Spanish missionaries to plant grapes during the 1790s. In the 20th century the land fell into disuse and was used as grazing land until the Hahns arrived. The Hahn family have played a key role in local winemaking and in 1991 Nicky succeeded in getting the Santa Lucia Highlands recognised as an individual AVA or American Viticultural Area. Chardonnay is one of the varieties that thrives here and this bottling from the Hahns is predominantly sourced from Arroyo Seco where the vines are cooled by winds from Monterey Bay. This helps the grapes to ripen slowly, developing complexity and plenty of enchanting aromatic character. On the nose there are hints of tropical fruit, honeysuckle and lemon zest while the first sip reveals a bright acidity, medium body and pure, clean finish. A great wine to pair with roasted chicken, Mediterranean vegetables or creamy fish dishes.
